How to distinguish speed and power consumption asynchronous SRAM chip

The traditional asynchronous SRAM product line is usually divided into two camps.Fast asynchronous SRAM focuses on high access speed,which is suitable for systems that require strict response time,but at the cost of large standby current and high power consumption.Low-power asynchronous SRAM,on the other hand,has excellent static power control,but its access speed will be slower,so it is not suitable for cache scenarios.
 
From the perspective of SRAM chip design,this difference stems from the choice of the underlying circuit technology.The low-power model adopts a special gate-induced drain leakage(GIDL)control technology,which suppresses the standby current by adding additional transistors in the pull-up or pull-down path.These"gatekeeper"transistors effectively block the leakage path,but also make the delay of data reading and writing longer.Fast asynchronous SRAM puts access time first,and will not install these delay devices to save power.Sometimes designers will deliberately increase the size of transistors to improve the current driving ability,which will further accelerate the speed,but the power consumption will also increase.
 
Fast asynchronous SRAM is common in high-performance computing devices,such as servers,avionics,and base station processors,which need large-capacity Scratchpad or L2/L3 cache.Low-power asynchronous SRAM is active in portable terminals,such as POS machines,programmable logic controllers(PLC),handheld medical devices,etc.These devices are powered by batteries,and standby power consumption must be minimized.
